Tenor’s GIFs are remarkably better than Giphy’s. Not sure when that happened; I feel like the inverse used to be true.

omg I was just reminded of CRACKLE, a streaming service I faintly remember watching a lot of as a kid.
Might start exclusively consuming content on CRACKLE ~just to feel something~

Finally bothered to disable the doubled iMessage notifications. One of the most egregious iOS defaults.

I was excited for my new keyboard to arrive: carrier said “by 21:00,” but alas that was false :(

1 of the 3 light sockets on my IKEA HEKTAR lamp stopped working. Gonna try to warranty claim it.
I got lucky it’s the lamp that broke because the Hue light I had in it costs more the lamp—which is absurd.
Update: Google Bard helped me fix it lol

I really should start using the Photos app on macOS. It actually seems quite good, but I’m just so attuned with managing photos within Finder.

Just got around to watching a video that’s been in my watch later for a while: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour: A Deep Dive into the Tech Behind the Show
I had not the slightest clue about live production beforehand, so it was incredibly interesting and insightful!
-
This is great. I used to just put my phone up against my headphones.

Aah there’s finally a merch item that I’m tempted by 😶

Finally ordered a new cable for my IE 200 — the stock cable is insanely microphonic with glasses.

Toggle Menu Bar Autohide on macOS
✨ toggle-menu-bar-autohide.scpt
This is functionality I’ve longed for in macOS. And with help from a YouTube tutorial1, I was finally able to write a script for it.
I like to use native full screen in macOS while keeping the menu bar visible since it just uses the extra space on notched MacBooks—the issue with this is that it remains visible during video. But, now I can pretty quickly toggle when watching something.

If you use

Chrome moved automatically cookie clearing to the most hidden place possible in settings.

I’m starting to re-watch Attack on Titan since the final episode is coming out.
I forgot most of what happens I think—especially regarding the last couple seasons. So I’m probably still in for some surprises.

ChatGPT implemented a captcha and it’s made me start using Bard again almost exclusively. Like all Arkose captchas, it’s genuinely frustrating and requires actual brain power and attention to solve.
Meanwhile Bard is faster, has a nicer interface, and doesn’t do this.

I’ve been using Windows more than macOS this past week… and I’m starting to actually like it? It takes changing a hundred group policy settings to get it to my liking, but after that it’s pretty good.

I’m seriously considering trying out a biphasic sleep schedule; I have an inkling that it could work well for me.
Still trying to determine the exact schedule, but so far I’m leaning towards: 23:00 - 04:00, 07:30 - 10:30.

I’ve always preferred “natural scrolling” as, well, it felt more natural to me—but only on touch surfaces. However, I’m now trying it out on a scroll wheel too.
On Windows—where I use a scroll wheel—it was kinda tricky to reverse the scroll direction1, but, once I got it working, it felt surprisingly normal.

The purple iMac exclusive accent color1 is basically grey lol

Okay I lasted like four days on Arc. It is unfortunately just not built for my browsing style.
Back to Safari, though, as it goes, I’ll get bored of it after like a month and try something else.

omg I remembered tetherball exists and now I want to play tetherball

Finally got one of my good friends to switch from Spotify to Apple Music. Now we can SharePlay 😎

As someone who spent $56 to watch the same movie twice for a grand total of 6 hours of entertainment, $23 a month for Netflix doesn’t seem that bad 😭

Looks like Glass.photo finally caught wind of my account that was in a glitched free trial state for over a year.
I never reported the issue because it was in my favor :p

As it goes, I got bored of Safari and now I’m back to using Arc. I was sort of against the AI features that were recently added, but I have to admit: they are genuinely useful.

EnvyUpdate1 is a neat utility for those with Nvidia graphic cards. It allows you to automatically update display drivers without having to install the dreadful GeForce Experience app.

I have FINALLY learned how to convert sheet music → music files playable in Synthesia1. This opens up a whole new world of opportunity for me.
It also helps a ton that one of my friends is a music teacher who kindly makes minor adjustments to the automated transcription for me.

As a society, we should grant Pop Base access to the nation’s emergency alert system.

I don’t know what Letterboxd is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask.

As I predicted, tonight’s Eras Tour showing was a lot more chaotic than last night.
This was great for me as I got experience both calm and chaos, but I kinda feel bad since for most that was their first and only viewing.
Though I have to admit: singing along made it much more fun. I would’ve liked to dance too, but only the front row was and I did not feel like giving up my perfect seat to join them. I had to settle with grooving in a recliner which tbh felt very strange.
Onward to the resumption of the live shows, where I can freely dance along to a low-res stream!
-
Theatres should offer a bucket of grapes. I don’t want greasy popcorn — I want grapes! They’re a perfect snacking food.
-
Recently I’ve been using the mobile Twitter web app to make the experience as unenjoyable as possible, but it hasn’t really helped with screen time. I don’t yet have the willpower to delete it entirely :'(
-
Instagram Threads, as it stands, is a great product. However, I foresee it being diminished by the eventual need for profitability.
Right now, everything possible is being done to please the users—which is great!—but it’s not sustainable. Ads will be introduced and the influx of new features will slow.
I browse and occasionally comment on Threads, but I don’t post there. For some reason, I prefer posting to what is essentially the void.
-
For this opening night of the Eras Tour film, I’m surprised there wasn’t any dancing and only minimal singing along. Granted, the theatre wasn’t full.
Now that I’ve experienced it ~calm~, I’m hoping tomorrow’s full theatre will have more energy!
-
Eras Tour film night 1 was a success! Absolutely incredible.
-
I got my parents to go to the Eras Tour film. I hope I don’t regret that!!
(the chair is gonna be interesting for sure)

There’s been a monitor in my apartment’s mail room for weeks: at this point, surely it’s up for grabs >:))

This afternoon—biked to my city’s arboretum and went on a walk listening to the entirety of Folklore 😌
-
I want to start playing video games more often. I used to play very frequently, but over the past two years or so I’ve transitioned to 4 hours a week or less.
I’m not even that much busier than I was back then—I don’t know what happened!
-
I don’t necessarily like it, but there is something satisfying about solving math homework.

The news of the new PS5 design has inspired me to finally set mine up again since moving apartments. I kinda regret buying it given I hardly use it.
-
Safari manages favicons really well!! 👍🙂👍
-
Just bought MediaMate for macOS. I didn’t even bother testing the trial before buying: I just trusted that, because the developer demoed Taylor Swift in their app screenshots, they made a good app :))

Waiting for the white K3 Pro to come back in stock

At last, the Minecraft launcher has an icon that fits macOS 😩

Text emotions are so fun. I need to learn and use more of them :]

I’m expecting the Eras Tour film to be LOUD, but I don’t really want to spend money on earplugs. I’m hoping IEMs + a beanie will suffice :S

Going to Walmart is only fun because of the escalators. Even if I’m not planning on getting a lot of things, I’ll take a cart just because the cart escalator is cool.
And it seems I am not alone here:
IKEA has these cart escalators too, which is where I saw them for the first time.
-
It’s quite annoying how aggressively Safari caches favicons. At least on macOS you’re given enough control to manually clear them, but on iOS you cannot.
-
Now, I almost look forward to playing Connections more than Wordle. They brilliantly complement each other.
-
go home apple music, you’re drunk
-
Look, I’m not saying I was inspired to get a new pair of shoes (specifically New Balance) because of Taylor Swift, but I’m also not saying I wasn’t…
-
Tomorrow I plan to start drafting a post about experiencing hi-fi for the first time.
I have some particular thoughts, but I worry I won’t be able to properly articulate them.
-
spent part of my afternoon watching ducks :)

Real Steel … omg I forgot about this movie. I watched it when I was like 8, so it might be surreal to rewatch.
I have not thought about this movie even once since I originally watched it; no idea why I suddenly (and quite vividly!) remembered a scene from it as I was falling asleep the other day.
I was going to say how ChatGPT is so much more useful than Google for this sort of thing, but typing the exact same prompt into Google also gives the correct answer :p
-
Spent a couple hours updating my Micro.blog theme. I’m feeling the Wikipedia ✨ aesthetic ✨ recently.
-
I’ve only watched 1 episode so far, but I can already see Extraordinary Attorney Woo being a favorite show of mine.
~update~ on episode 4 now and it’s still very good

Downloading dev tools on Windows feels like downloading pirated software—so jank.

Element X & Matrix 2.0 are pretty cool. I need to make an effort to use Matrix more—I like the direction the platform is going in.

I had a nightmare that my MacBook’s display completely shattered.
In the dream I was able to attach a mid-2007 MacBook display as a temporary fix?? but it ended up cracking too.
Genuinely so relieved to have woken up 😭

I thought TikTok was supposed to be adding a STEM feed, not a SHOP feed 🫠
-
Now that I live in a city where bike commuting is feasible, I finally bought a nice bike helmet.
I decided to spend a bit more for a stylish one that way I would actually be encouraged to wear it; I got the Thousand Chapter in sage green.
-
Just bought some prints from Etsy, but I’ve never printed art before nor know anything about frames :p
-
Love how you can just leave an item in your cart on Etsy for a couple days and you’ll end up getting a pretty good discount code.
-
Today was the first time I saw a YouTuber I watch in public — kinda weird!
-
Every time Twitter asks me to accept new TOS, I restart the app and it doesn’t ask again for a while. Not sure if I’m implicitly agreeing by continuing to use the service or …
-
Apple News(+) is Apple’s weirdest service. I’m just now seeing they’re copying NYT Games by adding daily + mini crosswords.
-
My new apartment has digital keys and I supposedly get access right at midnight—I’m tempted to stay up just to see.
-
thank you tiktok for the ingenious moving tip
-
I found these, meaning I’m now qualified to talk on TikTok.
-
they’re being held captive against their will.
-
fuboTV is clutch because if there happens to be something you want to watch on cable tv you can just sign up for a free trial so easily. I do this every week for F1 and, tonight, the VMAs.
Yes, this is probably unethical—guess that makes me the anti-hero ;)
-
The new notification sound in iOS 17 sounds like a touch sound from a Nintendo interface — I love it.
-
What is with every app pushing the NFL? Just because I live in the U.S. does not mean I care about football.
YouTube is the worst, showing a full screen NFL ad every time I open the app—which, to be fair, might be a bug.
-
I move to a new city in 4 days and I still haven’t packed anything 🥲
-
May or may not have spilled a bit of liquid on my MacBook’s keyboard 😣
UPDATE: My patience only permitted keeping it upside down for an hour. Hopefully it’s fine lol

I would appreciate if Adobe ran an advertising campaign for PDFs; there’s few things more annoying than having a bunch of Word docs in my downloads folder.
PDFs are for sharing!!!

ooh boy there’s a class I forgot I was in and now I have 2 weeks of work to do in 1 day
update: I managed to complete everything within 4 hours 🫨

This upcoming Apple event is the first in a long time that I care very little about 😐
-
I have a 256GB iPhone and use almost none of the capacity. I might as well start downloading all the music I listen to.
-
oops, I accidentally let my JetBrains educational license lapse.
Luckily, it’s easy to start a trial on a dummy account until my renewed application is accepted.
-
The Ballet Girl EP ❤️
-
I used to sleep with ambient music on Apple Music and it’s still affecting my algorithm months later.
A random soundscape should not be the “top pick - new release” for me.
-
I haven’t yet acclimated to the fact we’re in September. I see content dated “September” and I assume it’s not new before even seeing the year.
-
Just got my 6XXs in. As expected, they sound great off a 2021 MacBook Pro.
But what surprised me is they also sound fine from an iPhone. Everywhere online said it wouldn’t deliver enough power, and while they maybe don’t sound as good, they get plenty loud for my preference.
-
Stickies app on macOS desperately needs an update!
Such a fun, skeuomorphic way to take notes — but it does feel antiquated. What it needs is a redesign and some minor UX improvements to bring it inline with modern macOS.
-
Giving Firefox a spin — I’m finding it to be pretty compelling.
I used to main Firefox a couple years ago, but I’ve been using Safari + Arc as of late.

I was thinking of getting a DT 770 but now I’m leaning towards the HD 6XX.
I’ve literally never in my life heard hi-fi sound quality, so really anything I pick is gonna be sweet.

By the time I woke up today, all IMAX tickets to the Eras Tour film were sold out 😣
-
would be kind of funny to put contactless payment stickers on my apartment door

So many claim the Magic Mouse has great battery life, but I find it pretty poor. My 5-year-old G Pro Wireless lasts significantly longer.
-
eating a bag of doritos gave me a slight migraine 😓

These PlayStation Plus price hikes are rough. I already sort of regretted getting a PS5—now even more so.
-
I’m pretty sure the main hard drive in my desktop computer is dying. It sounds so awful.
-
TikTok’s web app is pretty good. Given comments are the best part of some videos, it’s nice to always have them visible alongside videos.
-
Downloading Kingdom Come Deliverance.
Tried playing the game a few times in the past but never got very far.
I’m interested in trying it again because I’ve been kinda obsessed with the medieval aesthetic lately. I’m also in need something to keep me busy at night with the Eras Tour on break.
-
“Why The American Lawn Sucks” nebula.tv/videos/ho…
This video is great.
-
First day of my semester was today.
I can tell a couple of my classes are going to be really great and a couple are going to be really annoying; the differentiating factors being the class structure and the vibe of the instructor.
-
I’m unable to turn my lights off because my internet is down. Live laugh Hue.
EDIT: Working now. Power was out for like 1/6 of my apartment, affecting only the networking closet and a few appliances.
-
74 days until the next Eras Tour date :'(
I at least ended tonight with my highest Swiftball score yet—65 points!
-
I spent pretty much the entire day setting up my Micro.blog theme. Still a bit more work to do, but if I have to look at WebStorm for another minute today I might actually go insane
-
hello :^)
